Gerhard Dredging CC - About Us
Gerhard’s dredging career started in Port Owen in 1985. After the completion of Port Owen, he worked for Cape Dredging on the massive ‘Kiki” to broaden his knowledge on dredging.
He successfully obtained a 5-year, 24-hour contract with Sasol in Sasolburg, to dredge the fine ash in all the dams. On returning back to Cape Town, he built his own hydraulic dredge, the GERHARD I, which worked at Welgemoed Dam, Berg River in Paarl, Gordon’s Bay Harbour & Koeberg Power Station respectively.
As technology progressed, the smaller GERHARD II was built, with the same efficiency as the GERHARD I.
The GERHARD II is built mainly for the cleaning of large farm dams, rivers & canals, throughout South Africa and neighboring countries, such as Botswana, Zimbabwe, etc.
Dredger is equipped with steel wheels to make launching and retrieving from slipways possible, without the use of cranes. Dredger is also self-loading on a low-bed trailer. 2 x Trucks delivers the complete dredge, pusher barge, pipeline and other necessary equipment.
